So - there really is no excuse now - no distractions from working (well, fewer than usual) having broken my leg on 4th June.

Not from anything exciting or daring - just strimming a grassy bank early on a Sunday morning. Was a bit damp though and while smugly thinking of all the accidents that are likely to be resulting from this sudden fine weather we were enjoying - with people foolishly not keeping an eye on where the electric cable was - whoomp, crack, crack and ouch - one spiral fracture to my right fibula.

Thankfully I'd kept it steady and the bone stayed in place neatly, so no operation was needed - just a backslab to keep it all together. And plenty of keeping it up in the air, no weight on it and so being considerably overweight and unfit, as well as being one of the most ungraceful people I know, it was deemed best to get everything set up in bed for me to work. It's like a control centre up there, but really was the safest place for me - that cast was so heavy too.

My checkup after 10 days was good - bone healing nicely, a huge bruise all over my foot, but too much swelling still - apparently a couple of pillows does not cut it - I need a bean bag and then some so the fluid can drain away (yuk - where does it go?). But now I can be more mobile and get up and down stairs much more easily - not confined to the bedroom - thank goodness - no TV upstairs!

Not that I've missed it much - little worth watching these days, but there are two annual events that are must-sees for me... Tim Henman at Queens and then Tim Henman at Wimbledon. Well, others too, if they play an entertaining game, but I jinx Tim as surely as I did Ivan Lendl all those years ago! Anyway - I am propped up, beanbag in place, watching Tim against Lleyton Hewitt in the Queens semis - willing him to get through...
